Webinar | Navigating climate risk in the UAE: Turning regulatory expectations into defensible decisions and sustainable investment opportunities

The UAE’s climate regulatory landscape is evolving rapidly. For banks, insurers and other financial institutions, the Central Bank of the UAE’s (CBUAE) climate-related financial risk framework marks a significant shift from climate risk as a policy consideration to a prudential governance and compliance issue, with increasing emphasis on firms being able to evidence their approach.

This sits within the country’s broader climate regulatory agenda, including Federal Decree-Law No. 11 of 2024 on the Reduction of Climate Change Effects (the UAE Climate Law), which took effect on 30 May 2026. Together, these developments are moving climate-related obligations from policy ambition towards evidence-based compliance across financial institutions and the wider UAE economy.

Join Pinsent Masons and SLR’s climate intelligence specialists Planetrics for an interactive session exploring what this changing regulatory environment means in practice and how financial institutions can build a robust and defensible approach to implementation.

During the session, we will cover:

  • The regulatory shift, from principles to enforceable prudential governance, and how this fits within the UAE’s wider climate regulatory landscape
  • What boards and senior management must evidence to demonstrate effective oversight and governance
  • How scenario analysis should influence credit, capital and liquidity decisions
  • A practical example, demonstrating portfolio analysis from risk identification through to management action
  • The defensible implementation roadmap, including gap assessment, evidence review and remediation

Bringing together Pinsent Masons’ legal and regulatory perspective with Planetrics’ climate risk and regulatory expertise, the session will focus on translating regulatory expectations into practical action.
